Paris is an amazing city, full of unique and enticing things to explore. However, we’d be doing our guests something of a disservice if we neglected to tell you about some of the wonderful places to explore justoutside of Paris, in the surrounding areas. Historic and interesting places are aplenty just beyond Paris, but here are just a few to get you started:
Chartres: Located just a one hour train ride from Paris, Chartres is a charming village full of Celtic and Roman history. Located on the banks of the Eure River, Chartres is surrounded by a stonewall built in the 12th century. Perhaps its most famous landmark is its cathedral, which is the oldest one in France. You can visit Chartres daily on our private Chartres Tour
Versailles: The former home of the French monarchy, Versailles’ grandeur and opulence is legendary. You can spend days exploring the palace and grounds. Only a 30-minute train ride from Paris, visiting Versailles is an ideal day trip. Be sure to give yourself a full day because exploring Versailles is something that shouldn’t be rushed.
Giverny: located in northern France on the banks of the Seine, Giverny is perhaps most famous for being the former home of Monet. A visit to Giverny usually includes a tour of Monet’s home and his famous gardens, the inspiration for some of his most famous paintings.
